W H O H U R T T O M ? - the locations

Places where the story has been - will be played:

The school

the school is in V&E. But nothing forbids playing in other schools. A new location with a free school is here.

The warehouse

The Tom scene has been played in the V&E warehouse. The warehouse has just one entrance point and can be easily checked from the street. In the story, it is not that near to the school.

The river

The location is that of Force 2.

Sandon College & Boarding School

Sandon College & Boarding School
********************************

The Sandon Boarding College is an elite, East Coast boarding school for boys and girls. It is isolated, away from any cell phones, without television reception.

Entry into The Sandon almost guarantees an Ivy League or equivalent, prestigious education. Only the wealthiest, most well-connected boys and girls, and a handful of scholarship winners, attend The Sandon. The students and families, though are also carefully selected. Everyone at the Sandon has a connection with a secret or a hidden guilt.

The Sandon accepts 50 students per year, has 24 teachers, 2 janitors, a nurse, a secretary and a Principal. It has a sex ratio of 60/40 girls to boys. It is also a recruiting location for the Satin Circle.

Every year between four and eight girls are selected, after having been watched for their entire time at the collecge, for their beauty and their susceptibility to the Sandon's special training regime....

How to play "Sandon C R I S I S - Who hurt Tom?"

This story will be an investigation on an incident involving a student, Tom - a geek.

Tom's best friend, Bobby Reads, will look for the truth. But he's not likely to manage alone. His professor, Mr. Ubik, and Grace, who Tom was in love with, may help. Not even Perenti and his minions have the story right at this moment. But how will they look for hints?

This is a good moment to push a character hint; perhaps you have seen something, as a certain hooker who should not have been in town, or an old homeless who is now accused of attempted murder..

Join Sandon for a hint and try to reconstruct the story.

W H O H U R T T O M ?

A Sandon Crisis brought to you from the Perenti crew.

See the lateral box for info. This is a good moment to contact Mr. Perenti and get in the Sandon storyline!

The story will be played as an actual mystery - so please ignore any information you obtained OOC (i.e., the prostitute for a start)

** 100 posts!! ** -- and a problem with time.

100 posts! Yahoo!!

.. but it seems that we're losing our real time action. Venturi went in and out again, I guess, but her actions deserve a response. And even I cannot make it with the daily post, apparently.

From now on we use the "post options" to slow down time. So, we're still in the middle of the week when Grace must find out and convince hers calumniators. If you can't figure when something happened, just tell me, and I will fix a suitable time.

FAQ part 2, in answer to Ubik's questions.

New questions for the FAQ; thanks Ubik, it's so much easier to write answers than to organize a rule post.

1) I am now a follower of the blog. Do I need to do something else? Btw, I don't yet see the Sandon blog in my "Dashboard"; is there any further thing I should do?

Starting to follow is good. My guess is that your dashboard is just being slow.

2) How do I post my character's description? I understand that I should scroll the webpage and paste the description text in the "Application Form". Is that correct?

No - that was the application process for sub/victim players. Anyway the whole process has been suspended; I'm giving invitation on a case by case basis. In other words it's now a "just ask" process. Make a post tagged Character and that is it.

3) I see that each post has a code. I mean, post  e.g. "S009: My skype sessions" has code "S009". Where do I find the instructions on how to put codes in my posts? Also, how do I post? (or I have to wait first so that the Sandon blog appears on my dashboard?)

To post, one needs to be an author. Approved applications will get the invitation in their email. Then you should choose a code for yourself - one or two letter, not already taken.

4) Also how do members communicate OOC, e.g. in order to arrange in-world meetings? I suppose they use email, through the email address you fill in with the application (?) But how do I send an email to another character or vice-versa?

Not really. I have a plans for a matchmaking tool but it's still just an idea. As for now, we use both SL friendship and the Satin Circle group. I invite players to friend each other.

5) Do in-world meetings have to be transcribed and posted as well? (e.g. after editing the transcriptions).

Nothing "has" to be posted. Players post at their discretion. Just post what you think may be interesting for the other to see; the rest can be just alluded to, in the diaries ("Ah, today I killed the Principal.")

What IS this blog?

Well, you have all the OOC posts to answer. Most of them, however, have been superseded by events. What happened is that the diary trick - that was meant as a way to check the commitment of sub/victim players - has evolved to be the main narrator voice. Instead of having the others do the diary, it's become my thing. Go guess.

So, what happens here? Federico's story is the one that keeps the threads together. We have one male student and two active girls - four players, a success from my point of view.

The blog and SL together are working as a two-pace narration. The diaries are a few lines where events are just flashed. The scenes give the detailed, moment by moment play.

I think that without the diaries we would never manage to have a scene as successful as the one with Tom and Grace. Knowing the characters are alive also out of the SL time, players put much more effort in making a sensible narration.

I wonder now how much this way of play could grow. With the current number, the blog is more than adequate. But what if we arrive to ten players? More? Well, stay tuned and perhaps you will know.

4 authors - a note about time

We have reached four authors!

Welcome to Silvia, the last one, who is letting us have her diary - just a note, we play in real time, so we need to make sense of these entries. My suggestions is that before friday Siivia had a kind of flashback, so to justify her previous entries. Or we can join them in a "character" post instead of the "diary" one. Well, we can even leave them as they are. That is, if you want to use this blog and not yours (http://silvia-sandon-diary.blogspot.com/) - it's up to you to decide.

We are introducing many new characters to pick, too: Sarah, Christina, the Dorks gang.

About time, to sum it up see it as follows:

- the time of the blog IS the time of events; so if you post twice a day, it's like morning and afternoon; if you do not post for three days, your character just did ordinary things for three days.

Keep in mind that you CAN change day and time of your posts. So you can play nice time tricks.

You're welcome to comment, discuss or offer advise, as always.

Fed.

The Satin Circle

The Satin Circle from Sandon 2 is the same one that appears in the Celluloid Souls story. It is a secret, international criminal organization. Initially the Satin was specializing in the trade of female flesh, especially on providing specially trained upper class girls to wealthy perverts. Sexually exploiting, degrading, and using women was the Circle speciality; Sandon was one of its main recruiting and training points.

Later on, the Circle became bolder, extending a thread of blackmail and domination, and enlarging its activities to include drugs and weapon trading.

The Circle expanded with exponential speed thanks to its unique method of recruiting and internal power structure. Members can be co-opted in through a secret voting procedure; power relationships are maintained through a network, with strange effects as non-transitive power situations. Members know only their immediate neighbors and are forbidden to seek contact unconnected members; they have life-or-death powers on subordinates (a vote on three members is required to issue assassination instructions) - a power rarely used, since accepted members know their place well, and unjustified elimination of Circle members brings a quick reward. Even the name itself is unknown outside its members, although many others, who may know a bit of its secrets, refer to it as the Organization, or the Circle.

OOC notes
:
The Circle will be played as an ultimate power structure. Essentially, sub/victims should be out of it. Non-members that plan a confrontation with the circle are invited to check their story beforehand (or to accept a quick, although possibly fun, character termination). Circle members should collaborate with each other; the power relation is to be played lightly (in fact given the circle structure one's subordinate could very well become one's supervisor in the next scene, especially if this contributes to the narration).

Sandon 2: the staff

One of the activities of the Satin Circle, the Sandon Boarding School provides excellent teaching. The first selection criterion for staff and teachers is that of absolute teaching excellence. The second criterion is that teachers and staff are either Circle members or people with a secret in their past. Many of the second group have in common their employment termination - without publicly known cause - from some prestigious teaching institution.

Sandon 2.0 - Play: at least once per week.

We request at least one play per week, even if short. Experience shows that less than this is frustrating for all players.

There are many ways to arrange a play - call people on the list, make an appointment, show up on meeting days.

Character inactivity for more than 1 week, when not previously arranged, will normally cause immediate character termination (narratively, this will simply mean the character has completed training and has been shipped away, or has tried to escape getting killed in the trial, or any other exit option as specified in the character description).

We know this a stringent request but there is no other way to ensure a shared narration without immersive play. The rule does not apply to arranged periods of leave.

Sandon 2.0 - FAQ

  • * Is the diary an imaginary one? Can i don't write for 5 days, then write 5 days equivalent in one go?

yes, you can, but we invite you to think of the diary every RL day. It would help a lot with the character.

  • * Sub application in pairs - how would that work? I have to find someone else to apply with me?

you can - or you can wait until we find you company.

  • * Do I have to be online everyday to participate?

No. In fact this style of play is meant exactly for those people who love involved RP but who have only a limited amount of online time. But you must arrange at least a play for week - so use your time wisely.

  • Venturi Muromachi: V.Muromachi is a character-type I've used for many years in a few sorts of roleplays that always had a strong D/s aspect within them, usually private. So she's very well developed and knows what she wants. She is not typically a rapist but more of a seducer. I don't know if that would necessarily fit within your theme, since the scenes tend to be more assaults. Perhaps a strong domme flavor is not something your theme? Please let me know what you think.

Federico Perenti: The scenes are from a previous version of the story. This time I want to have less assaults and more of a character development; assaults tend to be self-consuming scenes. I'm not saying there will be no assaults, but a character like yours fits perfectly in my opinion. Of course, OOC you should check with the sub players if they want to go in one direction or the other.

Sandon 1.0 closing

Hello readers.

Yes, you two.

No roleplay here in a while. And all the stories we started seem to have been interrputed in the middle. So, I'm closing all the stories and invalidating all the characters. We start anew with new rules.

What went right? Well, we managed to do some awesome roleplay. Great photos. And we managed to keep the story alive for a long while.

What went wrong? my interpretation is that we're aiming very high. I mean, people that wants a complicated roleplay would go for places like the Crack Den - immersive play. People that wants to write a story go to Elliquiy. People with little time, well, they want immediate rewards. An explosive mixture.

What can we do? Change the rules of engagement. Touch up the story. And restart. Sandon 2.0 is coming.

Good Roleplay

Dear all (which apparently means: dear Grace),

first of all, congratulations for the start of Act 2. Jennifer, the first of our female characters was, eh.. Well, something happened to her. Read the post. So, we enter a new phase of the story, where Jennifer starts her descent into the depths of the Satin Circle.

Now, I really wonder who is reading this blog; on a related note, I also wonder what other blogs of this kind are in the wilderness of the web. Reading roleplay is not as reading a story or a more classic blog; we're probably a rare bunch, but nevertheless I'm sure there are others out there.

Should we try to connect?

I'll start by listing a few places that I've found; you're welcome to add to the list and, as usual, to send comments.

These first ones are connected to the Crack Den, which remains for me as "the" quality roleplay place. But tastes are different; read and tell!
