Act 2, Scene 3

Synopsis: Laurie previously blew her cover when she was discovered snooping around in the warehouse opposite the school building by Mr Fairbank's hidden camera. However she managed to escape. This time round, she isn't too lucky, as Mr Fairbanks had called both his cronies, Storm and Ram back to help him teach her a lesson.

Character background (by Wiley Clowes)

Laurie Ashford is a 24 year old private detective. Smart, savvy, with a black-belt in Judo and some experience in mixed martial arts, her toughness and ability is belied by her looks. At 5'4" tall and a mere 100 lbs, she's a mere wisp of a girl who can easily pass for 18 years of age. The daughter of a police officer, she has contacts among the local police as well as a few friends on the federal level. Currently, she is working undercover at The Sandon Boarding School, hired by the parent of a girl who graduated the previous year.

These parents became worried their daughter's senior year when she stopped writing to them for a week, different from her usually daily letters, and, when she started up again, her writing seemed stilted and unlike her. When they made an unexpected visit (against Sandon rules, but they were concerned), they found their daughter nominally the same bubbly, happy girl they knew, but something about her seemed off, forced. After expressing their concerns to the faculty, they remained worried, but could only keep an eye on their daughter.

They were happy when she was accepted to an elite liberal arts college, but were hurt and even more concerned when their contact with her lessoned even more. Suspecting that something traumatic had happened to her at The Sandon, they had tried to get her to talk about it, but she denied that anything had happened. Still, they persisted, going so far as to hire Laurie Ashford to try to get to the bottom of what might have happened, and been covered up, at the school.

Using their considerable influence, the got her admitted as a junior, her cover story being that she was a niece of the family from Europe looking to go to University in the States.

Laurie Ashford hears another man's voice and looks up

Ramius Hays stumbles into the room panting...."what's up?"

Federico Perenti: So, miss Ashford. You disappoint me so much. I cannot argue that you had a bad cover, that I cannot. You slipped into my security system like a knife in butter.

Laurie Ashford sees Doug Fairbanks smiling at her

Laurie Ashford looks up to see another thug walking up behind Fairbanks

Dear all (which apparently means: dear Grace),

first of all, congratulations for the start of Act 2. Jennifer, the first of our female characters was, eh.. Well, something happened to her. Read the post. So, we enter a new phase of the story, where Jennifer starts her descent into the depths of the Satin Circle.

Now, I really wonder who is reading this blog; on a related note, I also wonder what other blogs of this kind are in the wilderness of the web. Reading roleplay is not as reading a story or a more classic blog; we're probably a rare bunch, but nevertheless I'm sure there are others out there.

Should we try to connect?

I'll start by listing a few places that I've found; you're welcome to add to the list and, as usual, to send comments.

These first ones are connected to the Crack Den, which remains for me as "the" quality roleplay place. But tastes are different; read and tell!

Sandon: Act 1 scenes 1-10

Hello everyone. 

After ten scenes I thought a good idea to make a point. Please leave comments, even just to let us see who is actually reading the blog. Also, please suggest what should be the event moving us to Act 2 - I would envisage something critical between Jennifer and Emma, after all they were somehow the main characters in the original story. Suggestions welcome.

Another question: what about making a group call for more male players? Or perhaps just trying to find some in our social network? I think we could use at least another active teacher and a second janitor.

We have quite a lot of active characters. In act 9, Grace introduced a good idea: multiple playable characters. She played Samantha, who was played by *name witheld* in her first apparition. She later (to be published) will also play another vice principal. I would open this possibility to everybody - and who wants to have a try to play Fairbanks is welcome.

Let's go on with the characters state:

Principal Fairbanks

Lots of suspended scenes. Samantha, his secretary, has been submitted (1.6) and now collaborates in his mischievous activities. Mishel Jewell is drugged by Samantha (1.9). Jennifer is in trouble for drinking (1.9); Emma for staying out in the night club (1.4). He has a twisted relation with the new History teacher, Ziki (1.8), and is aware that Laurie is not just a student (1.10). He has captured a journalist (1.5), Dakota, who lies in the dungeon waiting for processing.  In all these scenes, we see the Fairbanks character: resolute, he follows his agenda, but not without slips and mistakes. 

 Next scenes: hm, too many.

 

Laurie Ashford, the detective (1.7, 1.10):

after a first unsuccessful tentative of drugging her, Mr. Fairbanks capture her. But after making her understand she's been discovered, he releases her. She still does not know who the enemy is.. 

 

 "You have still two days to go before the others come back in town, unless Storm returns first."

 

 Next scene: she must decide what to do now: trying to play a game of I-know-that-you-know or challenging someone in the school directly, or talking to the other students. Lots of possibilities.

 

Jennifer Emory (1.9)

got in trouble for drinking, and is waiting for a medical.

 Next scene: medical examination

Emma Daniels (1.4)

 is challenging the principal explicitly. She's not an easy one to scare or submit, but the letter from her parents has unsettled her.

 Next scene: punishment for drinking?

 

Dakota Levenque (1.5) lies in the underground room.

 

Next scene: someone coming to visit her in the darkness.

 We still wait for official RP introduction for Drogo (we have a story from him)

the blonde is reserved by the principal for himself.

Stormcrow Harbinger (1.6) is waiting for his work.

 

 Next scene: any 

 

Samantha Williams: 

submitted to the Circle in (1.6), she can be used freely, and waits for her chances with one of the students.

 

 Next scene: any, but specially the followup to 1.9.

 

 

Ziki Questi: 

gave a sound beating to Mr. Fairbanks in 1.8; of course, he's waiting to retaliate soon.

 

 Next scene: possibly an actual history lesson, or Fairbanks' revenge.

 

Emily Fields

 (1.1) would need a male student to seduce her, as a follow up of scene 1.1; or perhaps Samantha could cover that role.
